23. May - Hike in the woods

Sunday morning we went for a walk in the woods near
where we live. The great thing about Norway is that nature
is never far away...even when you live in the city.

Alana and papa singing 'Father Jacob'

These are all blueberry bushes!!!! mmmmmm....:)
You have to wait until August when they are ripe.

May 17th - Breakfast

(Just a little information for my family in the States)
This is one of Norway's national costumes called a 'bunad'.
It's worn on special occasions such as holidays, weddings
and especially on the 17th of May.
This is me at a wedding some years back
wearing a bunad called a -Beltestakk- (belt bunad)
from a region in Norway called Telemark.
(where my husbands family is from)

The 17th of May is Norway's National Day.
On May 17, 1814 the constitution was signed that
declared Norway an independent nation.
We hosted a breakfast that morning and
invited some friends.

Our Garden

This is the start of our little flower bed. Tulips, and perennials will hopefully grow and spread out with beautiful yellow, purple and white flowers...

Dette er starten på vårt lille blomsterbed. Tulipaner og stauder vil forhåpentligvis vokser og spre seg ut med gule, lilla og hvite blomster...

...and this is our strawberry bed.

...og dette er vårt jordbærbed.
